Kyle Swan is a Chicago-based jazz drummer and bandleader, and a GRAMMY winner for his playing on Brian Lynch Big Band’s The Omni-American Book Club (2019), where he is one of the featured soloists. He earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Frost between 2013 and 2018, serving as teaching assistant for the jazz drum department during his master’s.
He has performed and recorded with Kurt Elling, Brian Lynch, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Paquito D’Rivera, Charles McPherson, Sean Jones, Orrin Evans and Peter Bernstein, and has played festivals from Chicago and Detroit to Montreal, Menorca and Port-au-Prince. At home in Chicago he leads his own trio and quartet at clubs like the Jazz Showcase and the Green Mill, and teaches master classes.
