Miami-born Armando Lopez, the son of Cuban parents, started on piano, took up drums at ten and went on to the Frost School as a music business major, with drumset as his principal instrument. He has toured internationally with guitarist Cory Wong, pianist Alfredo Rodríguez, singer Elena Rose, Natalia Jiménez, Cris Cab and the Roosevelt Collier Band, and plays drums in Electric Kif, a Miami power quartet that runs between rock, jazz fusion and electronic drum & bass.
As drummer, arranger and composer for the orchestral group Nu Deco Ensemble he has arranged for or performed with Ben Folds, Jacob Collier, Cory Henry, Emily King and Angélique Kidjo. He also directs MiamiBloco, an 80-member community samba percussion group, and his debut solo album, Sisu, comes out on October 2, 2026.
